Neva Masquerade differs from traditional Siberian only by color. The very attractive color pointed pattern (Siamese color) and bright blue eyes became a real decoration of Siberians.

So, who is and how is Neva Masquerade of today?

Salubrity and long lifetime distinguish this breed.

By cats’ standards, this is a very big animal weighting up to 8-10 kg. The females are smaller and more graceful than males, their nature being more sweet and accommodative. No one can restrain itself from shouts of admiration when seeing a genuine Neva Masquerade.

The Siberians are slow to mature and may need up to 5 years to reach full maturity. They are fine-boned and well-muscled. The cats jump very well both in height and at length. They are adroit and fearless hunters, especially when allowed to stay outdoors.

Their perfect coat is dense and water-repellent. They shed hair twice a year that considerably facilitates keeping up cleanness at home. It is one of few breeds, which is able and likes to look after its coat. It also likes the owner to comb its soft and silky coat. However, Siberian does not need to be brushed often, as its hair never tangles.

The breed has mild and steady disposition despite of its severe appearance. Siberians are fearless defenders of the territory and, at the same time, loving and faithful friends to their owners and patient toys in hands of children. However, they prick up their ears before strangers.

Siberians like their owners to treat them as equal members of the family and to appreciate their outstanding intelligence. They are partners by definition. The cats have self-respect. They thrust themselves upon nobody, but adore to chatter with and to confide secrets to their owners. At the same time they are intent and understanding listeners. The melodious purring and silent “cooing” of the Siberians will always calm and comfort its excited or upset owner.

The behaviour of the Neva Masquerades never makes trouble to the owner. Good manners and tact form distinctive traits of their nature at a genetic level and run in their blood.
